In Bordeaux, Entomo Farm, the leading company specializing in the design and manufacture of industrial insect breeding systems, is unlocking its capital to investors via the crowdfunding platform sowefund.com.
The start-up founded in 2014 with the support of Marc SIMONCINI (Meetic), Jacques-Antoine GRANJON (vente-privee.com) and Xavier NIEL (Free) through the 101 Projects competition, is accommodated in the Bordeaux – Blanquefort Ecopark and has developed and patented an eco-industrial system for feeding, breeding and slaughter of insects.
Designed to replace fish meal used by fish farmers, which is often imported, this automated system provides industrial volumes, with very low production costs and environmental impacts, while also ensuring traceability and food safety of the final product.
With its insect breeding systems, Entomo Farm offers the opportunity for fish farmers to produce their own animal protein directly on site.
Located in Aquitaine – the leading fish farming region in France – the startup has received expressions of interest from sturgeon breeders, among others.
Entomo Farm is targeting turnover of €3 million within three years and the doubling of its workforce in 2016. Through this fundraiser the company intends to gain a foothold on the international market in 2017.
