The traditional gas provider in Spain and 2nd alternative supplier of natural gas on the French market, the Gas Natural Fenosa group has chosen Bordeaux for its 3rd Compressed and Liquefied natural gas service station for heavy goods vehicles in France.
After dominating its home market, Gas Natural now hopes to position itself as a key player in LNG and CNG in France.
The first Gas Natural Fenosa service station in France was opened in 2014 in Castets in the Landes area.
It is an autonomous service station which supplies 2 local customers: Transports Mendy and the Intermarché logistics platform.
After Poitiers in 2015, two more stations will open in 2016 in Bordeaux and Paris.
The main advantages of this new site are that it is in a prime location in a transport hub, within a logistics platform close to the main Paris – Toulouse highway, as well as the presence of the Port of Bordeaux.
Encouraged by the coming into effect of the Euro 6 emission standard, heavy goods vehicle manufacturers are now increasingly developing this type of motorization which has both economic and environmental advantages.
The LNG network is cleaner and cheaper than diesel, and is being encouraged by the European Union “Blue Corridors” program.
“Invest in Bordeaux” is supporting this project, which will come to fruition in summer 2016.
