With 1000 jobs created (creation of sites or extensions) or jobs maintained by foreign businesses in 2014 (+75% compared to 2013), the Aquitaine region and the Gironde department are testament to the upturn that started in 2013, and continue to attract foreign investments.
According to the latest report published by Business France, North America and Germany are the top investor countries in the Aquitaine region.
The Gironde department hosts 45% of Aquitaine projects, primarily in the form of ‘decision-making centres’ and R&D/Engineering/Design.
Overall, while 25% of jobs created by businesses outside the Aquitaine region are a result of foreign investments, 75% of jobs are due to French companies located outside Aquitaine and, first and foremost, in the Ile de France region.
Additionally, 60% of French jobs created in the Aquitaine region are concentrated within the Gironde department.
