With 300 km of new tracks and 500 infrastructure facilities, it is currently the largest railway project in Europe. The high-speed line that will in 2017 put Paris at 2 hours 5 minutes from Bordeaux bolsters the appeal of Aquitaine and will boost economic activity and employment.
The economic impact is already significant with 8,000 people involved on the construction site and an investment of 7.8 billion euros.
Bordeaux also hopes to attract subsidiaries of large groups and boost its growth areas such as digital technology, lasers, aeronautics and the upper tertiary sector.
