Like all its predecessors, the new Airbus A350 – which made its maiden flight in June – is fitted with cockpit electronics designed by French group Thales and developed at its site in Le Haillan, near Bordeaux.
The screens in this new plane are wider and more ergonomic than those in the massive A380.
The Bordeaux unit had previously presented a demo model christened Odicis, designed to prefigure the equipment which will be used in the 2030s. At the Le Bourget air show, the company showed off a prototype called Avionics 2020, a glimpse of the equipment likely to be operational a little earlier than that. One of the main features of this system is its switch to a touchscreen.
