The young Bordeaux-based company iQSpot, specialized in the development of energy efficiency management in service-sector property, has recently been funded by IT Translation, a body which funds projects stemming from research and focusing on digital technologies.
Established in Newton, Bègles, a business park dedicated to environmental technologies, iQSpot is developing software, which provides real-time data on energy consumption in order to encourage eco-friendly behavior in employees.
Set up in 2013 by two researchers from Inria Bordeaux – Sud-Ouest, as part of the Phoenix project team, iQSpot has been honored in the “Up and coming” category of the national BPI France competition, which aims to help start-ups in innovation technologies.
With these funds, the company wishes to establish partnerships with energy audit companies, obtain public funding in order to support its R&D and commercial development, increase its staff to a dozen collaborators by the end of 2016 and reach 2 million euro in revenue the following year.
“Thanks to the useful data it provides and the tools it makes available, iQSpot’s solution involves users, say founders, Julien Bruneau and Quentin Enard. This involvement can decrease energy consumption by 15%, thereby reducing energy bills. Employee awareness of their eco-responsibility at work, their consumption behavior patterns and their well-being are the levers for optimal energy efficiency.”
