Technology sites, logistics sites, port areas, business parks within the urban framework or on the outskirts, business premises…..
There are land and buildings available throughout Gironde and the metropolitan area to welcome new inward investment.
Many themed technology parks have been created, focusing on the region’s areas of excellence and logistics facilities (Port of Bordeaux, Bordeaux Freight, Hourcade marshalling yard, etc.) to complete this picture.
In 2015, the Cité Numérique, at the heart of the Bordeaux Euratlantique project, will be the cluster of excellence for digital development and its uses.
Main sites in the conurbation
Laseris and Cité de la Photonique
From Bordeaux to Arcachon, the “Route des Lasers” incorporates the Bordeaux campus, university research laboratories and CEA installations (atomic and renewable energy).
The “Route des Lasers”, a public-private partnership, has seen the development of two business parks at Le Barp close to the Megajoule Laser (LMJ).
The science and technology parks LASERIS 1 and 2 represent a 70 million euro investment. At present LASERIS hosts 26 businesses (about 250 jobs).
The Cité de la Photonique close to the campus covers 3.8 ha and provides 180 jobs in a dozen businesses.
Bordeaux Aeroparc and Aerocampus
Located close to the airport, the Bordeaux Aeroparc, overseen by Bordeaux Technowest, owes its emergence to the considerable presence of the greatest names in aeronautics, with companies like DASSAULT, THALES, HERAKLES, Airbus, SABENA… It represents 15,000 jobs in aeronautics and about fifty SMEs. Specialities are also being developed in UAVs and aeronautical maintenance.
A microdrone test zone has been set up on the “Camp de Souge”, a few kilometres from the Aeroparc business centre.
Aerocampus Aquitaine, the first European campus dedicated to an industrial sector and which aims to provide training in aeronautical maintenance, also welcomes new businesses linked with this sector.
Technology park located west of the Bordeaux conurbation. It covers 18 hectares and takes in projects associated with the sectors of biotechnology, health technology and services to the associated health industries.
Bordeaux Montesquieu Technopole
Twenty minutes from Bordeaux and from the airport, the Technopole is home to about fifty companies and over 600 employees on its ideal 30-hectare site.
It has companies working in three sectors: ecotechnologies, biotechnologies, and wine and winegrowing.
Ecoparc is a 350-ha business park with 50 hectares still available. It is the key project in the conurbation’s strategy relating to ecoactivities.
The site, which has ISO 14001 certification, will be on the tram route in 2015. It has considerable available land reserves, as well as a business advisory team, a service centre and it includes some of the driving forces in industry, such as Ford Aquitaine Industries, Getrag Ford and Airbus.
