After initial testing, Hydrotube Energie, a Bordeaux company, has announced the first kilowatts produced by its H3 hydro-turbine submerged in the Garonne and strengthens its position with African countries.
This first river hydro-turbine tested under the Aquitaine Bridge exceeded study expectations by reaching its maximum power with a current of 2 meters per second. This would enable the production of 60 to 80 kW on certain African rivers, which are the company’s main targets.
Developed in close partnership with the CNB (“Construction Navale Bordeaux” [Bordeaux Shipyard]) and set up by BALINEAU (Vinci Group), this hydro-turbine has been designed to be put to the hardest test on powerful and remote rivers.
Amongst the first French companies to experiment with a full-scale river hydro-turbine, Hydrotube Energie, supported by the Conseil Régional of the Aquitaine since 2009, is not shy about its ambition and is multiplying contacts with future users in many Western African countries.
