With over 16,000 members, 150 stations and bikes hired out 7 times per day on average, VCub, the self-service rental service in Bordeaux, was quickly confronted with the problem of a free-flowing system in real time.
Supported by the Regional Incubator of Aquitaine, the company QUCIT (4 employees), which was created in 2014, has developed a software programme called “VCub Predict”. It uses information from the past four years on how the network functions in order to produce congestion predictions for different stations depending on the time of day. The programme has just been integrated into an application for smartphones, named “La Bonne Station”, developed by the Parisian digital agency UNAMI.
As a winner of the Worldwide Innovation Challenge 2014, QUCIT’s aim is to continue its partnership with KEOLIS in Bordeaux and to find other contracts in France and overseas.
