Following the global success of Yummypets, the social network for cats and dogs, Octopepper, a newly established business founded by two young professionals from Bordeaux, has invented a connected collar which enables pets to be located, thanks to a small GPS device.
The connected collar also serves as a health record and contains data on the pet’s activity (distance travelled, rest periods, etc), as well as places dedicated to pets (vets, dried pet food manufacturers, pet shops, pet enclosures).
The project has been assisted by the ‘Orange Fab’ programme, which selected 7 start-ups in France from 185 candidates.
Octopepper, founded in 2012, generated an annual turnover of 400,000 euros in 2014 and has 18 employees in Bordeaux.
The collar will be available for purchase in Orange stores this summer.
