Newton will be the new name of the Environmental Intelligence Park for activities linked to green growth in the Bordeaux region.
Located on the former ESSO site in Bègles, this 4.5-hectare park is destined to become a cluster of excellence for green growth in the city.
In time it could be home to 1,000 jobs.
The Bordeaux Euratlantique public development company has purchased the site and will invest €5 million in developing a veritable campus and real estate with offices and premises for other activities (26,000m²).
In addition to the installation of Valorem (100 people), an engineering design firm specialising in renewable energy sources and a producer of green electricity, an incubator has also been established on the site, managed by the Bordeaux Technowest Technopole.
“Newton Park will complement the Ecopark in Blanquefort”, emphasises Antoine Monnerie, Project Director. “Here, we plan to host activities linked to engineering and R & D. Our idea is for the park to be a place where innovations are put to the test.”
It is also planned to establish higher education training courses linked to sustainable development.
Restoration and building work should start in September 2016, to be completed by the end of 2017.
