In Bordeaux Métropole, the Exoes start up, which recycles exhaust pipe energy, was ranked 3rd in Nicolas Hulot’s My Positive Impact campaign that aims to raise awareness of operational solutions to fight against climate change.
This pioneering technology, developed since 2009 by the company’s engineers, consists in recovering heat lost from the exhaust and transforming it into energy. Called EVE (Energy Via Exhaust), it provides electricity to the vehicle engine.
Thanks to a sum of €300,000 from the Aquitaine Region, Exoès is engaging in a new test phase in order to work on ethanol that does not freeze and does not pollute.
Since last May, the company has raised €2 million and has created an international Strategic Committee to develop the project.
They are working with the combustion engine centres of the Polytechnic Universities of Valencia, Liege and Hanover.
The firm, which has just taken on 3 new engineers, plans to licence its procedure to its first heavy goods vehicle engine manufacturer in 2017.
We should also mention the other two Bordeaux projects in My Positive Impact: the restauration of the Médoc wetlands came 15th and the Darwin ecosystem 17th.
