The Airbus Group will build its new factory for the assembly of the E-Fan, its new electric plane, in Mérignac, close to the runways of Bordeaux airport.
Airbus Group will invest €20 million in this project led by its subsidiary, the company Volt’Air SAS. Around fifty jobs could be created.
This small aircraft (6m long, 9.5m wide) which has already made a dozen test flights works with lithium batteries housed in the wings, for a range of 1hr. It is intended for flight schools, a promising niche market, by 2017.
