A vital new addition to Bordeaux’s thriving online retail ecosystem: the Cdiscount Startup Booster, a program designed to nurture the sector’s bright young things.
Cdiscount Startup Booster, working hand-in-hand with the Digit’halles business accelerator
With growth of 14.3% in 2015, the online retail sector is booming.
Based in Bordeaux, Cdiscount is France’s leading online retailer with turnover of over 1.7 billion Euros, 16 million clients, 20 million products and 18,000 delivery locations.
This new business incubator aimed at online retail start-ups is a valuable addition to Bordeaux’s established digital excellence cluster, spearheaded by Digit’Halles and Ecom33.
The first business incubator in the south-west of France devoted exclusively to online retail, Digit’Halles inaugurated its 1000m² facility near Bordeaux Airport in 2015.
A collective of local entrepreneurs, businesses and online retail specialists, Digit’Halles’ mission is to establish an excellence cluster devoted to this thriving sector.
The site offers various shared tools and services to make life easier for online retail entrepreneurs (customers services, webmarketing, a photo/video studio, a logistical platform, training courses), as well as office space and advice on financing and venture capital.
The incubator is already hosting 15 young companies, with access to an online retail innovation lab.
Bespoke support to bring innovative projects to life
Cdiscount, a subsidiary of the Casino group, will provide space in its own offices for start-ups in the field of online retail, providing expert support to help take their projects to the next level.
This incubator scheme is specifically aimed at recently-created start-ups and those still in the launch process. Cdiscount aims to help these young businesses evaluate the pertinence of their products for the online retail market, accelerating their development.
For a period of between 3 and 6 months, Cdiscount will offer the benefits of its expertise and resources in order to help young start-ups get over the first hurdles in their entrepreneurial adventure.
The program will focus on two major priorities: developing business and nurturing specialist skills in the fields of online retail and web marketing.
