Fundraising, internationalization, mergers, awards…Bordeaux and Gironde companies are once again in the news. Here is a small sample.
Poietis, a Bordeaux firm founded in 2014 and incubated by INSERM, is the only French company to offer custom printing of human skin. Its process is unique in the world and allows “printed” skin to adapt to the body over the course of time.
The market is huge: surgery, pharmacy, cosmetics… It is valued at 30 billion euros by 2018. Poiétis hopes to industrialize its method and market it by 2017; it is therefore launching a fundraising campaign through crowdfunding with a goal of €650,000, in addition to the private funds already in progress.
Wiidii, the pocket-sized assistant, is an application that acts as a concierge, an intendant and an advisor to organize your everyday and professional life: find a place to eat or a babysitter, make an appointment at the doctors…The originality and efficiency of this application stem from a combination of artificial intelligence and personalized support: behind the application, the search engines are linked to human advisors.
It is initially designed for individuals at a price of €9.80 but in order to boost its visibility and go beyond national borders, partnerships with large groups are developing such as with CDiscount: wiidii will come up as a suggestion on the homepage screen of the CDisplay application.
Wiidii’s system is constantly evolving to respond to consumer expectations. In order to accompany this development strategy, fundraising of €450,000 with the Region and private investors is about to be finalized, before a larger fundraising – €1.5 to €2 million – which is expected for end 2015-beginning 2016.
Implanet, a young company based in Martillac, specializes in the development and sale of spine implants of which the flagship product is Jazz, an elastic implant clipped onto the spine, mainly for purposes of treating scoliosis. This innovative technology is less traumatic than traditional technologies based on screws.
In 2014, Implanet opened an office in Boston; today, the American market already represents 30% of its turnover and a clinical study has just been launched at Columbus to measure the medical and economic impact of the Jazz implants.
Implanet is now targeting South America: Mexico, Brazil, Peru and Colombia.
Number 2 in France for online tire sales, 1001Pneus.fr, after only 6 years of existence, has impressive turnover of 42 million euros, 800,000 tires sold and 20,000 tire references with 140 brands. The success of this site is mainly down to the setup of a vast network of fitting centers, with over 6,000 in France.
1001pneus.fr is now targeting Europe: in 2014, the concept was exported to Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg and Belgium.
The countries next in line are the Netherlands, Great Britain and Germany with the aim of competing with the European leader 123tyres.com.
