The market of home-delivery catering services using bicycles is booming in Bordeaux.
Following the French Allo Resto, the market leader, the Belgian company, Take Eat Easy, and the English Deliveroo have also chosen to establish their businesses in Bordeaux at the same time, based on the same economic model, yet not in the same niche.
In reaction to this market that is set to make up 16% of the overall catering market over the next few years, these start-ups have arrived in major French cities, targeting “eco-minded and cool” consumers, and “fashionable and foody” restaurants.
Supported in its installation by Invest in Bordeaux, the Belgian start-up, Take Eat Easy, announced the creation of 10 jobs in Bordeaux, while the English company Deliveroo created 5 jobs.
The latter is rapidly expanding in France and worldwide, thanks to recent fundraising of 94 million euros. Deliveroo has joined with nearly 35 restaurants in Bordeaux, with a focus on quality and local, neighborhood restaurants.
Strengthened by its fundraising of 6 million euros last April, the company’s Belgian rival, Take Eat Easy, is planning to rapidly expand in French cities and European capitals. The company is very demanding in its choice of restaurants, and is also riding the ecology trend, offering deliveries by bicycle only.
