The vitality of Bordeaux-based companies is illustrated by the fact that 2017 was a record year for fundraising: approximately fifty companies carried out fundraising operations and raised a combined total of over 100 million euros.
According to a survey carried out by Invest In Bordeaux, in 2017 twice as many Bordeaux companies (49 compared to 30 in 2016) secured investments from private or public investors in order to continue their development.
These companies include startups in the digital sector as well as in the biotech, healthcare and Fintech sectors.
The 8 operations that raised in excess of 5 million euros:
Fermentalg, a Libourne-based biotechnology company specializing in microalgae raised €12.6 million to accelerate its development in nutrition – health.
Parot, the Bordeaux automobile distribution group raised €7.5 million through a capital increase in order to continue the development of its national network and accelerate its digital services.
Sunna Design, a startup located in Ecoparc which is a pioneer in connected solar street lights, completed a €7 million fundraising round.
LNC Therapeutics, specializing in cardiometabolic disease research, raised €6.5 million.
HelloAsso, a fundraising platform dedicated to non-profit organizations based in the Darwin ecosystem, raised €6 million.
Poietis, a startup located in Bioparc which is developing a unique printing technology using laser bioprinting, raised €5 million to industrialize production and cover recruitment costs.
L’Addition, specializing in the development of an application to turn iPads into cash registers for restaurants, raised €5 million from investors in Bordeaux.
Anthelios, a developer-builder based in Bordeaux, completed an €8 million round of fundraising and will double its staff.

Blue Valet, a valet parking service for travelers in airports and train stations completed a round of fundraising for a total of €2 million.

OP2 Drugs, a biotechnology company established in the myocardial infarction prevention market, raised €3.5 million to continue its research.
Entomofarm, a company located in Libourne specializing in developing factories to breed insects and use them to make flour, completed a new round of fundraising for a total of €3 million.
HabX, a digital platform for designing new homes, completed a second round of financing totaling €3.5 million to expand its activity in new cities.
