The Bolloré group, whose electric car sharing scheme Autolib is already a Parisian favourite, has implemented BlueCub in Bordeaux Urban Community [CUB].
In early January, 40 carsharing stations will open across 7 municipalities (Bordeaux, Mérignac, Pessac, Le Bouscat, Cenon, Talence and Bègles) with 90 100% electric vehicles.
The scheme will then be completed by 2015, with 110 more cars in an additional 40 stations.
“Bordeaux and the CUB expressed their need for car sharing as a solution to city centre congestion. The scheme, already a success in other French cities, also has an ecological and economic purpose*: users will be able to travel using renewable energy and therefore leave their own car at home or sell it. Bordeaux Gironde Investissement helped speed up the whole process” sums up François-Xavier Gardère, BlueCub Director.
The service is expected to start on 20th December.
The manufacturer has invested 20 million Euros to set up the scheme in Bordeaux! Return on investment expected in 4 to 5 years.
