After a historic year for the, automotive supgroup in 2014 supplier Le Bélier, with its headquarters in Bordeaux Region, experienced strong growth in 2015 and is planning for substantial investments in 2016.
The automotive supplier group specializing in manufacturing aluminum automotive components is seeking to double its business in aeronautics by 2020.
The supplier, a specialist in providing the global automobile industry with molded aluminum components, produces parts for braking systems, suspensions, engine mountings, and turbo systems to be used by major automakers (PSA, Volkswagen, BMW and Daimler).
Le Bélier planned to roll out 28 new programs in 2016, and maintain this pace through an investment of 30 million euros dedicated primarily to developing the group. Le Bélier will also create 250 jobs, particularly for engineers.
The group’s 10 industrial sites throughout the world (50% of its production takes place in Europe, 30% in Asia and 20% in North America) currently represent 3,500 employees, and the group is seeking to reinforce its factory in the Gironde (170 jobs).
In Vérac, near Bordeaux, the group will invest 5 million euros over a period of 2 years to modernize the foundry and increase the production capacity, particularly for the aeronautics market.
“Production costs do not allow us to compete with central European and Asian countries. We will adapt the factory for prototyping activity, and we want to increase our activities in aeronautics. It’s a market characterized by small series, with a requirement of zero defects. We will be in close contact with contractors in this market, and the value added is greater,” Managing Director Philippe Dizier explained in financial newspaper Les Echos.
In 2015, the consolidated turnover is at 318.5 million euros, a 23.1% increase in comparison with 2014. The group’s greatest sales increase is in Asia (+27.8%), with North America and Europe reporting growth of +6.5% and +9.6%, respectively.
