Created in 2015 and headquartered in Paris, the HINS start-up company has chosen Bordeaux to set up its R&D centre. Specialised in artificial intelligence and “Computer Vision”, it is launching a recruitment plan to triple its workforce by 2018.
HINS targets new markets
HINS develops gesture recognition solutions for any device equipped with a simple camera, especially smartphones. Pioneering this fine technology that spares the batteries of our devices, it has developed the CLAY system, a software component that is marketed to key accounts and mobile application developers.
It is currently targeting the virtual reality sector and the video gaming market, with North America and Asia being the commercial targets. The company also has offices in Paris (34 avenue des Champs Elysées) and has set up the subsidiary, CLAY inc., in the USA for business development.
Fundraising and job creation
To support them in their new projects, Aquitaine Amorçage has recently granted HINS an interest-free loan of €60K.
These funds have contributed to supporting the R&D and recruitment effort in Bordeaux.
There are currently 10 employees in Bordeaux and the recruitment plan is to have up to 30 by 2018. 30% of the job vacancies will be in R&D and 70% to reinforce the sales team.
Bordeaux was a preferred location from the start.
Several team members, PhD students and researchers in cognitive sciences are in fact from the University of Bordeaux.
While the scientific environment was decisive, competitive wage costs and the good working and living environment also made a difference.
