The first “new” Lesieur factory in a century has been built on the right side of the Bordeaux riverbank, in Bassens.
This 30 million euro investment is a 22,000 m² site consisting of 5 packaging lines, 4 of them transferred from the Bacalan factory, which is set to close.
The new site in Bassens will eventually employ one hundred people who will make 100 million litres of oil per year, in comparison to 90 million currently at the Bacalan factory.
Director Cédric Kson, who hopes that this site will be a “showcase” for the brand, says it will be unique in France for its direct connection with the adjoining seed crushing factory, Saipol.
