The start-up Solidanim, specialised in 3D animation and virtual production relocated its headquarters and R&D department from Ivry to Bordeaux in September.
After Angoulême and Los Angeles, the start-up, which has just celebrated its tenth anniversary, has moved into its premises in Rue Judaïque to develop new projects and recruit.
Fast-growing SolidAnim innovates
Solidanim has made a name for itself with its expertise in 3D animation and with the success of its innovative SolidTrack technology, a procedure which allows film directors to preview special effects in real time during shooting.
The French leader in virtual production and motion capture, SolidAnim meets the needs of professionals in the field of animation (video games, cinema, etc.).
Its international references in the world of cinema include Alice in Wonderland, Warcraft, Star Wars Rogue One and Avatar.
SolidAnim already has a studio devoted to motion capture in Angoulême. It is looking to complete its offer in Bordeaux with a virtual production studio geared towards the production of images in real time.
Bordeaux, the promise of economic potential
The move from Ivry to Bordeaux represents a new step for SoildAnim, with the grouping of teams in Nouvelle Aquitaine and a stronger foothold in the region’s creative vitality.
The Parisian team, consisting of R&D engineers from one of its 2 production units, in addition to administrative departments, arrived in Bordeaux last September.
The company is hoping to consolidate with the creation of some thirty jobs over the next 3 years, mainly in 3D animation (permanent and intermittent positions) and virtual production (development and production).
If the LGV high-speed train has been a contributing factor to the Bordeaux project, the international opening of Bordeaux and its attractiveness have also played a decisive role for export business.
Assisted by the Nouvelle Aquitaine Regional Council in the creation of a virtual production studio, SolidAnim has also received the support of the Invest in Bordeaux agency to make contact with local players and find premises.
