The appeal of Bordeaux wine region for Chinese investors is not declining and the rate of acquisitions should remain steady in 2015.
The symbolic number of 100 wine estates owned by Chinese investors has been reached early this year, although this only represents 2,000 hectares, that is to say 1.5% of the Bordeaux wine area.
Furthermore, China remains the main importer of Bordeaux wines: one out of ten litres produced are sold to China. This trend is expected to continue over the next years, as, according to a study carried out for VINEXPO, Chinese wine consumption should increase by close to 25% from now until 2018, while it is estimated that the consumption of wines in France will decrease by 2.8%.
